Fall Home Maintenance Checklist

  1. Change the air filters in your heating/cooling system.
  2. Clear the debris from your roof gutters. Make sure that the downspout elbows are not blocked or damaged and route downspouts away from the foundation.
  3. If you don’t have roof gutters, now would be a good time to invest in them.
  4. If your yard has a drainage ditch, clear out any debris that can block the water flow.
  5. Remove any dead tree branches and palm fronds.
  6. Clear debris from your roof.
  7. Test and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
  8. Caulk around the interior and exterior of your windows and doors to prevent moisture and wind intrusion.
  9. Re-paint any loose, peeling or chipped painted surfaces at the exterior walls and trim.
  10. Patch and seal all stucco cracks.
  11. Remove the covers from your lawn, sidewalk & driveway drains to clear out any debris that may be blocking the drains. Flush with water from your garden hose to confirm if the drains are clear of any blockage.
  12. Check your emergency kits and update medications, batteries, contact information and food.

Theses simple home maintenance tips can help to prevent damage to your home and keep your family safe.
